The 4-star Hotel Heidegrund in the Oldenburger Münsterland lies right beside the Thülsfeld reservoir, surrounded by idyllic landscape and nature. For travellers and conference guests, this family-run conference and business hotel offers more than 50 spacious rooms, an extensive food and drink offering, conference facilities for up to 280 people and a 400 square metre wellness area.
Requirement
This exceptional and versatile setting calls for a matching musical backdrop, provided by a high-quality sound system. It was selected, planned, installed and finally commissioned to the customer’s specifications together with our partner company EP:Hartke from Cloppenburg in Lower Saxony.
What was required was a flexible multi-zone system able to route the various input signals — microphones, projector, Bluetooth playback — flexibly into all rooms or into selected ones.

Solution
The demands on the sound system were very complex; in particular, speakers had to be distributed across several rooms over considerable distances. Cable runs of several hundred metres inevitably lead to heavy losses along the way. The choice therefore fell on digital audio transmission over a LAN connection and a Dante® interface:
The advantages of using a standard IT network to carry audio are obvious. Cabling costs can be cut considerably. The technology also offers a very high degree of flexibility in planning and implementation. Inexpensive Ethernet cabling replaces heavy and usually costly analogue or multicore cables.
With the MONACOR 4-channel Dante® transceiver, every source can be played simultaneously and without delay — in any or all zones.

A core component of the new audio system is the DADC-144DT 4-channel Dante® transceiver. Four converters in total now serve as the interface between analogue audio devices and the Dante® audio network: sources with line output level are connected to the four analogue inputs. Each unit provides four analogue outputs for connecting the speaker systems, and the level of each can be adjusted individually.
The PA-1850D class-D amplifier supplies power to the connected speaker series. The eight-channel model delivers 50 W RMS per channel and feeds the speakers in the conference rooms, restaurant, conservatory, bar, club room and terrace.
For unobtrusive sound from ceiling speakers, 29 EDL-10TW/WS 100 V flush-mount speakers were installed in total. The 2-way version with tweeter is ideal for high-quality speech and music reproduction with good sound quality and even dispersion. Mounting springs allow quick, simple installation in ceilings 10–40 mm thick.
For the required media playback over Bluetooth, five of the extremely compact IWA-05BT/WS audio receivers/amplifiers are used. These in-wall receivers can run in stereo or mono and allow a wireless connection to any device with Bluetooth (A2DP/AVRCP). In this scenario the IWA-05BT/WS serve as audio sources and are fed into the Dante® network via ADP-DAI-1X0 Dante® AVIO analogue input adapters.
